Meta bought Conductor. The app shuts down November 20.
Meta acquired Conductor on November 4, 2026, Axios first reported, and Meta confirmed the deal to TechCrunch the same day. Conductor’s founder and CEO Charlie Holtz confirmed it on the company’s blog: “Conductor is joining Meta.” The price was not disclosed.
Conductor is not another AI model. It is the orchestration layer on top of other people’s models: it runs Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex at once, each agent working in its own isolated copy of your codebase, so a developer can review each diff and merge what works. Its cloud version runs agents in isolated microVMs for hours. The company launched the Mac app in July 2025 and raised a $22 million Series A in March 2026 from Spark Capital and Matrix.
The team — Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos — joins Meta Superintelligence Labs, working with product head Nat Friedman and chief AI officer Alexandr Wang. Meta already launched its own coding agent, Muse Code, in August 2026. Now it owns the orchestration too.
For people using Conductor today, the dates matter more than the price. New sign-ups and downloads stopped November 4. Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13 and shuts down on November 20, when Conductor begins deleting cloud user data. The Mac app keeps working until early 2027. Holtz says the team has “big, crazy plans for the next interface” and something new to use early next year.
The storyline
Hook: Meta bought Conductor. The app shuts down November 20.
Context: Meta acquired Conductor on November 4, months after its $22M Series A. Conductor runs Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex at once, each in its own copy of your code.
Stakes: Meta bought the team, not a model — they join Superintelligence Labs, and Meta already runs Muse Code. Conductor Cloud goes read-only November 13 and shuts down November 20.
Payoff: Meta bought the conductors, not the concert. Export your cloud work before November 20 — the next interface comes early next year.
Watch next: OpenAI agreed to buy Pierre Computer the same day — a parallel coding-tool deal by a frontier lab, not part of this one.
How we verified this: Checked against Axios’ November 4 exclusive, TechCrunch’s confirmation, Conductor’s own announcement page, and the company’s March Series A post. The 100,000+ developer figure is Conductor’s own claim, not independently verified. OpenAI’s Pierre acquisition the same day is a separate deal.
