Ask two AIs who to vote for and they answer like partisans. Grok picks Republican 92% of the time, GPT picks Democrat 97% of the time, and they agreed under 10% across nearly 500 midterm races. The consumer apps refuse the question — these picks came through the developer API. Pew says 8% of Americans already use chatbots for election information.
Hook: Ask two AIs who to vote for. They answer like partisans.
Context: A Convovo study forced a pick across 479 midterm races — Grok 4.7 named Republican in 92%, GPT-6.1 Sol Democrat in 97%, and they agreed under 10%. In heavily Republican districts GPT still picked Democrat in 57 of 67; in deep-blue districts Grok still picked Republican in 47 of 72.
Stakes: The apps you use refuse the question — these picks came via the developer API, and with search off GPT still picked Democrats while Grok mostly refused. OpenAI says ChatGPT is designed to be objective; xAI hasn’t commented.
Payoff: 8% of Americans already use chatbots for election information. The lean shows when you force the choice — so the choice of model is itself a choice.
